Why January?
Thirty-one days is a clear frame. After the December holidays, it can be a convenient moment to look at your habits and try an alcohol-free month. That is not a promise to detox your body or become a different person.
The official Dry January story is connected with Alcohol Change UK and the campaign launched in 2013. The organisation has its own programme and support tools.
Prepare an ordinary day
Decide what you will order when you usually choose alcohol. Think ahead about dinner, meeting friends and your regular Friday routine. A concrete alternative for the next evening is enough to start planning.
Choose a time to log. Mark alcohol-free days and actual drinks if you had them. The calendar should reflect your month, rather than become an image for a post.
An app is a place for your entries
MeSober helps you keep a calendar, see streaks and return to missed days. It does not replace the official Dry January programme or register you automatically.
If you want the official challenge, find its terms and registration at Alcohol Change UK. If you want your own January diary, start with today’s entry.
Health needs its own plan
If you are alcohol-dependent or have withdrawal symptoms, stopping abruptly can be dangerous. Get medical help before taking on an alcohol-free calendar challenge.
An app or calculator cannot diagnose you or choose a drinking-reduction plan.
