A diary that does not become another job.

A straightforward routine for recording drinks and alcohol-free days: one time to check in, real serving sizes and a sensible way to handle gaps.

MeSober editorial ·

Choose a time first

One reliable moment is easier than ten reminders. It might be after dinner or the next morning for yesterday. Choose something that fits your life.

An entry needs the day, drink, volume and strength. Mark alcohol-free days separately. An empty square and an alcohol-free day are different things.

Do not guess every serving

A wine glass might hold 125, 175 or 250 ml. Strength is printed on the label; you can ask about the pour in a bar. If the exact number is unavailable, use a sensible estimate and remember that it is an estimate.

The calculator converts a serving to units. You do not need every example in your head; start with the drinks you actually choose.

Voice works too

MeSober lets you describe what you drank and review a draft before saving. Reviewing matters: speech recognition and drink interpretation can make mistakes.

Manual entries, Siri and the widget work for quick check-ins too. Pick the easiest method for you, rather than the most impressive one.

A gap is a gap

Return to the previous day and add what you remember. Do not reconstruct a serving with false precision. If an entry is unknown, leave it unknown.

After a few weeks, look at the calendar: which days or situations repeat, and when logging feels easiest. It is material for your decisions, not a graded exam.

The short version

A diary that does not become another job.

  • Pick one moment to record — for example, in the evening.
  • Record the drink, serving, strength and quantity. Mark alcohol-free days separately.
  • Review voice drafts before saving. Fill missed days later without pretending to know exact amounts.
